ADC Hardscapes’ Donnie Price, our owner-designer, is a veteran firefighter and public servant. His extensive expertise made him a natural fit to design and build the OKC Zoo’s Aquaticus exhibit. But that’s just the start.
From humble beginnings to million-dollar projects.
Donnie’s career leading and owning an Oklahoma City hardscape company began as pure pragmatism. Just two years into his firefighting career, he was newly married and his wife wanted to pursue her dream – law school.
To help make her dream a reality, Donnie worked on his days off as a concrete designer, building retaining walls and what would eventually become his business, Affordable Decorative Concrete (ADC). Business began to scale as word about Donnie got around, leading to projects like Aquaticus and an internationally recognized $500,000 natural pool build.
For 22 years, Donnie ran the business on off days until his firefighting retirement three years ago. Now, Donnie operates the company full time. His origins as ADC live on both in the company name and the ADC proprietary concrete blend.

OKC Zoo’s Aquaticus – Designed & Built by ADC
Donnie and the ADC Hardscapes team was trusted by the Oklahoma City Zoo to design and build the stingray and pinniped (sea lion) exhibit.
The project was a feat of both engineering constraints and sculptural concrete. Donnie was on site, crawling on scaffolding to apply shotcrete to the engineered grottos and walks to sculpt a natural looking habitat.
Zoo leadership was so satisfied with Donnie’s resulting enclosure that they named a portion of the building after him.
While the entire Aquaticus exhibition center was sadly demolished in 2023, Donnie is in talks with OKC Zoo leadership on working on additional sculptural concrete projects.
